Free School Meals: An Important Investment

The Feed Arizona's Students campaign is an important initiative that aims to guarante that all students in Arizona have access to free school meals. There are several reasons why I support this campaign and why free school meals are so important for students.

First and foremost, access to nutritious food is essential for a child's physical and cognitive development. Children who are well-nourished are more likely to attend school regularly, have better academic performance, and have a more positive attitude towards learning.

In addition, school meals are often the only meals that many students have access to during the day. According to the USDA, over 30 million children in the United States rely on free or reduced-price school meals. Without these meals, many students would go without food, which can lead to hunger and malnourishment.

Furthermore, free school meals can help to reduce the burden of food insecurity for families, especially those who are struggling financially. When children have access to free school meals, parents can save money on groceries and can instead use those funds for other necessary expenses, such as rent or healthcare.

Additionally, free school meals can also help to reduce the stigma associated with receiving free or reduced-price meals. When all students have access to free meals, no one is singled out or stigmatized for receiving assistance.

In conclusion, the Feed Arizona's Students campaign is an important initiative that aims to guarantee that all students in Arizona have access to free school meals. Access to nutritious food is essential for a child's physical and cognitive development, school meals are often the only meals that many students have access to during the day, free school meals can help to reduce the burden of food insecurity for families, and free school meals can also help to reduce the stigma associated with receiving free or reduced-price meals. This campaign will help to ensure that all students in Arizona have the opportunity to succeed, both academically and nutritionally.

For me, it's personal, I was a student at Nogales Unified School District with access to free and reduced cost meals at school. I think every child should have the same benefit, so please join me in asking our legislature and governor to support this important initiative. Thanks!
